Can Kambo Help With Fertility? What We Know and What Our Clients Tell Us
There is a question that arrives in Claire Anstey's inbox almost every day. Sometimes it comes from someone who has been trying to conceive for two years and has run out of answers. Sometimes from someone who has just had a third failed IVF cycle and is sitting with the weight of that. Sometimes from someone who found Kambo through a completely different route and is wondering quietly if it might be the thing they have not tried yet.
The question is always some version of the same thing. Can Kambo actually help with fertility?
This article explains what Kambo is, where it comes from, what science has found in its secretion, and what the clients who come to us describe experiencing.
What Kambo Is
Kambo is the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor, the Giant Green Monkey Tree Frog of the Amazon rainforest. It has been used for centuries as part of the traditional ceremonial practices of indigenous Amazonian tribes including the Matses, Katukina, and Mayoruna peoples.
It is not a psychedelic. It does not create visions or altered states of consciousness. It is a deeply physical, deeply cleansing ceremonial experience that those who come to it describe as unlike anything else they have ever encountered.
The secretion is collected humanely and respectfully from the frog, which is released unharmed. The frog is never killed and is never harmed in the process.
What Science Has Found in Kambo
In 1986 Italian pharmacologist Vittorio Erspamer, who also discovered serotonin and was twice nominated for the Nobel Prize, became the first Western scientist to analyse the Kambo secretion in a laboratory setting. He described it as containing what he called a fantastic chemical cocktail unlike anything else found in nature.
To date sixteen bioactive peptides have been isolated from the Kambo secretion. These compounds have been of significant interest to researchers and pharmaceutical companies worldwide since the 1960s, with over 70 Kambo related peptide patents registered primarily in the USA.
The peptides identified in the Kambo secretion include dermorphin, deltorphin, phyllokinin, phyllomedusin, phyllocaerulein, sauvagine, dermaseptin, adenoregulin, and several others. Each has been the subject of ongoing scientific interest and research.
Due to UK advertising regulations we are sadly unable to make specific claims about what these peptides do in relation to fertility specifically. What we can share is what the research community has found interesting about them and what our clients describe experiencing.
Kambo and the Fertility Journey: A Tradition That Predates Western Science
The women of the Amazonian tribes who have used Kambo ceremonially for generations have long incorporated it into their practices around fertility and the welcoming of new life. This is not a modern interpretation. It is a tradition that has existed for centuries within these communities, long before Western science had the tools to investigate why.
That tradition is the foundation of the Fertility Boost Programme at Conscious Conception & Fertility with Claire Anstey.
What the Research Says About Complementary Fertility Approaches
The Fertility Boost Programme combines Kambo with two of the most researched complementary fertility approaches available, acupuncture points and hypnotherapy. The research on both is genuinely compelling.
Acupuncture and Fertility
A peer reviewed meta-analysis published in the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics analysing data from 25 trials involving 4,757 participants found that acupuncture significantly improved clinical pregnancy rates and live birth rates. The clinical pregnancy rate was 43.6% in the acupuncture group compared to 33.2% in the control group, and the live birth rate was 38.0% versus 28.7%.

A further 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis published in the International Journal of Nursing Studies analysing 39 trials involving 7,188 participants confirmed that acupuncture significantly improves clinical pregnancy rates and reproductive outcomes for women undergoing IVF compared with control groups.

Hypnotherapy and Fertility
A landmark study published in Fertility and Sterility, the journal of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, found that the use of hypnosis during fertility treatment significantly improved outcomes. The clinical pregnancy rate in the hypnosis group was 53.1% compared to 30.2% in the control group.

A 2023 peer reviewed paper published in the Arts and Humanities Open Access Journal concluded that hypnotherapy is a valuable complementary intervention in fertility support, helping individuals manage the emotional aspects of the fertility journey, reduce stress, and support overall mental and emotional wellbeing.

What Our Clients Tell Us
Due to UK advertising regulations we are sadly unable to make specific claims about what Kambo does for fertility specifically. What we can share is what the clients who come to us describe experiencing.
They describe feeling something shift that nothing else had reached. A sense of hope returning. A feeling of moving forward rather than standing still. A renewed connection with their body and their journey.
Many of the clients who come to us have been trying to conceive for years. Many have been through IVF. Many have diagnoses that conventional medicine has been unable to resolve. And many go on to conceive.
We are proud to receive photos of our clients with their newborn babies. Many have gone on to have second babies with no issues too.
We invite you to read our client testimonials and make your own judgement.
Who Comes to the Fertility Boost Programme
People come to the Fertility Boost Programme from many different starting points on their conception journey. They come navigating unexplained infertility, PCOS, endometriosis, low AMH, recurrent miscarriage, male factor infertility, fertility over 40, and the aftermath of failed IVF cycles.
What they have in common is a sense that something deeper needs to shift. Something that no blood test or scan has been able to reach.
If that resonates with where you are, you are in the right place.
Is Kambo Safe for People Trying to Conceive
Yes, for most people who are actively trying to conceive, Kambo is a safe and legal ceremonial practice. The one exception is if you believe you may already be pregnant at the time of a session. If there is any possibility of pregnancy, let Claire know before your session and she will advise accordingly.
Kambo is completely legal in the UK. It has been used safely for thousands of years across the Amazon. Claire Anstey is IAKP certified and every client receives a full personal health screening before their first session. If the programme is not right for you, Claire will tell you honestly.
