The Kambo Ceremony

What to Expect

Knowing what to expect before you arrive makes all the difference.

This page will walk you through everything that happens during a Kambo ceremony as part of the Fertility Boost Programme, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. Nothing is hidden. Nothing is glossed over. Claire believes that an informed client is a prepared client, and a prepared client has the best possible experience.

Before You Arrive

Preparation begins before the day of your session. Claire will send you a full preparation guide when you book. This covers everything you need to do and avoid in the days leading up to your ceremony including guidance on food, water, alcohol, medications, and how to prepare your mind and body for the experience ahead. Please read it carefully and follow it completely. How you prepare directly affects the quality of your experience. If you have any questions before your session please send Claire a WhatsApp message. She responds personally to every message.

Arriving at the Session

Sessions take place at the clinic in Beckenham, Kent, or at your home if you have chosen a home visit. When you arrive Claire will welcome you into a warm, calm, and carefully prepared space. The room is set up with mats, blankets, pillows, and everything you need to feel comfortable and held throughout the session. You will be offered water and have time to settle before anything begins. There is no rush. The space is yours for the full three to four hours.

The Opening: Meditation and Visualisation

Every session begins with a guided meditation and visualisation led by Claire. This is an important and intentional part of the process. It brings the mind into stillness, opens the body to the experience ahead, and sets a clear and focused personal intention for the session. Many clients describe this opening as deeply peaceful and grounding. For the Fertility Boost Programme Sessions 2, 3 and 4, this is also the moment where the intention is specifically and purposefully directed toward your conception journey.

The Gates

The gates are the small points on the skin through which the Kambo is applied. Claire uses a thin incense stick to create very small superficial points on the surface of the skin. These are not deep cuts. They affect only the top layer of skin and heal quickly, usually within a few weeks, leaving small marks that fade over time. In Session 1 the gates follow the traditional placement used in Kambo ceremony. From Sessions 2 through 4 the gates are placed on fertility specific acupuncture points following the IAKP Fertility Acupuncture Point Sequence. For women the points are on the left lower leg. For men the points are on the right upper arm. The number of gates used in each session is determined by Claire based on your individual circumstances, your previous experience with Kambo, and the stage of the programme you are at. Claire will always discuss this with you before the session begins.

The Kambo Experience

Once the gates are prepared the Kambo secretion is applied directly to them. The experience begins within moments of application and is immediate and intense. This is not a subtle or gentle process. It is a profound and powerful ceremonial experience that asks something of you.

What you may experience: Many people experience a strong sensation of warmth or heat moving through the body. The face may flush. The heart rate increases. There is often nausea and most people purge, this is a completely natural and expected part of the ceremony and is considered an important release. Some people experience shaking, emotional release, tears, laughter, or a deep sense of letting go. Some feel a heaviness in the body. Some feel a sensation of moving through something difficult and arriving somewhere clearer on the other side. Every experience is different. Every session is different. Claire is present with you throughout every moment, watching, supporting, adjusting, and holding the space with complete care and expertise.

How long does the experience last? The active Kambo experience lasts approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Claire monitors you carefully throughout. The Kambo is removed when the time is right and you will begin to feel the intensity subside.

Rest and Recovery

After the Kambo experience you will rest. This is one of the most important parts of the session and it is not rushed. You will be held in a peaceful, quiet, supported space for up to one hour. Claire remains present throughout. You may sleep, rest deeply, feel emotional, or simply lie quietly. All of this is welcome and normal. Many clients describe this rest period as one of the most profound parts of the entire experience. Something settles. Something shifts. The body and mind arrive somewhere quieter.

The Nourishment Meal

When you are ready Claire prepares and serves a light vegan meal to gently fuel and rehydrate you after your experience. The meal includes fresh soup, bread, hummus, crackers, rice cakes, fresh and dried fruits, and peanut butter. It is simple, nourishing, and carefully chosen to be gentle on the body after the ceremony. This is also a time to talk if you wish. To share what arose. To ask questions. To simply be in the warmth of the space before you return to the world. You leave nourished, grounded, and cared for.

After the Session

How will I feel afterwards? Most people describe feeling lighter, clearer, and more at peace after their session. Some feel tired and need to rest for the remainder of the day. Some feel energised and clear headed. Experiences vary and all of them are valid. Claire will give you personalised after care guidance before you leave. Please follow it carefully. Rest, hydration, and gentle self care in the days following your session are important.

The days after your session It is common to experience a period of integration in the days following a Kambo ceremony. Emotions may arise. Dreams may be vivid. You may feel more sensitive than usual. This is a natural and important part of the process and Claire is available by WhatsApp if you have any questions or concerns in the days following your session.

Is Kambo Safe

Kambo is a powerful ceremonial practice and it is not without physical intensity. It is not suitable for everyone. Please read the Precautions and Contraindications page carefully before booking. A Note on the Fertility Boost Programme

The Kambo Ceremony page describes what happens within each of the four sessions of the Fertility Boost Programme. Each session follows this same structure, the meditation and visualisation, the gates, the Kambo experience, the rest and recovery, and the nourishment meal. The difference between Session 1 and Sessions 2 through 4 is the gate placement. From Session 2 onwards the gates are placed on fertility specific acupuncture points following the IAKP Fertility Acupuncture Point Sequence, creating an experience that is unique to the Fertility Boost Programme.
